Chart Chat

BBC - Radio 1 - Chart
The singles Chart continues to be full of unmemorable trash that surely won't have a place in anyone's top 100 singles.
But the Album Chart is so much better. I'm impressed that bands like Snow Patrol, Keane, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and Damien Rice continue to party on at the top of the charts. Meaning that loads of us must own those cds and Enjoy the sheer brilliance of this music.
I'm surely ashamed not to have The Libertines Cd yet though which sits proudly at number one. The Libs without Pete is pretty sad news. But they will survive. They are gritty and strong and have been through such a lot.
I just hope that Pete doesn't end up like so many other musicians (Kurt for one) we don't need another dead Icon. We need Pete alive and vibrant making more music and being a role model. I do however think his story has put people off of drugs. He sure hasn't made it glam.
If you want a track to buy this week pick Easyworld. 'How did it ever Come to this'.............. The CD includes a haunting and most beautiful version of Candi Staton's Young hearts Run Free (you need the 4 track one). I cannot recommend it enough.
