Need to spend the day in Swindon Hospital? make sure you take your life savings.

Wiltshire Hospital parking charges defended: "
Visitors to the Great Western Hospital pay £35-a-day to park
Parking charges of pound;35 per day at a hospital in Swindon have been defended as a deterrent to commuter parking. "

Unbelievable. How can you charge 35 quid a day to people who have the misfortune to be in Hospital or have a relative in hospital?
The NHS is a joke. Have you tried to get decent NHS dental treatment lately? Near on impossible.
But this car parking milarky? Swindon hospital should be ashamed. But they're probably just rubbing their hands in financial glee. Bastards.

I was thinking there must be better ways, like issuing tickets for actual outpatients or visitors of patients and then slapping penalties on the rest.

Then it occurred to me that some might be tempted to bludgeon their grannies with a blunt intrument just to get themselves a season ticket. I would.

As a Swindon man I'd like to point out these charges are merely to prevent hordes of Swindon tourists, lured by the fantastic leisure opportunities, descending on the town.

We aim to keep Swindon desolate and quiet.

Please respect our wishes by going to other hospitals in less desirable locations.

Shocking stuff but a real sign of the times. Latest rumours from good sources in the NHS are saying we'll be following the American model of healthcare by 2008: I.e. Pay for EVERTHING to the level you can afford, or else end up with Dr Nick from the Simpsons. "Hello everybody!" here we come.
