NME Night

Tonight 11.30 on Channel 4 is the highlights show from the NME awards. I was very disappointed by the Brits, until my mate Mr Grumblemag explained to me that The Brits isn't about talent. Oh no it's about record sales and popularity. FFS anyone can be popular. Look at Pop Idols Steve Brocklepisser.
But the trusty and exciting NME awards Are about talent. About fresh, new, exciting, clever and ingenious music. It is ALL about the music and not some tosser who sings a song.

So who won?

They had a good year despite (or maybe because) of Pete's shit. A good way to bow out though.

Quote

Bono, mate...
I stuck with you through Live Aid, through Rattle & Hum, God even through the hair weave, but Christ... what the hell are you doing man?

At which point did it seem like a good idea to stand next to Norah Jones and a guy dressed as a match to sing some dirgeful wazz-wozz of a song backed by fucking Velvet Revolver?

Are you insane? Charity schmarity. Even Brian Wilson had the sense to pretend not to know what was going on (oh).

Fancy being put to shame by a harmonica solo. Shame on you, you stumpy shouter with a face like a Happy New Year balloon in February :( We're OVAH!

So well said. My sentiments exactly.
