Asylum

Moses Must Stay Campaign : Help us stop asylum seeker Moses Kayiza from being deported from the UK back to Uganda where homosexuality is strong criminalised.:

"Moses Kayiza is a gay asylum seeker who fled Uganda in May 2004 and managed to find his way to the UK.

According to the law, religion and culture in Uganda, homosexuality is strongly criminalised.
If Moses is deported by the UK government, he is likely to face life imprisonment (20 years), torture, or worse.
Why? Simply because he is gay."

How could anyone send him back to a place where he will be abused or killed? Surely that is a humans right to leave somewhere dangerous to find safety?
I was appalled a few days ago. There was an article in the Bristol Evening post about a young 13 year old girl who was being deported back to her birth country. She was an orphan. Both parents abandoned her and she was living here with her Aunt, who was on a Visa here. Her Aunt was her only relative apart from a dying 80 year old Grandfather back in Jamaica. No one knows where her other relatives are.
I was so shocked. She's a child? How could it even be considered to deport her?
Are they crazy?

Well I think we all know how daft this country is becoming dont we? My view in immigration is neutral for the most part, though I'm sad to say I know a few of the scary bunch who want everyone out.
Genuine reasons to stay are genuine reasons. What is the government's problem? Why should we be surprised though, look at any time you, I or anyone has tried to sort out a cock-up with officaildom. There's just nobody prepared to do anything except chant the official mantra of "That's how it is!"
Common sense does not exist in the civil service. I know, I am a civil servant. The lower levels understand and want to change it but those above just want everything quiet and easy so they can slope off and play golf.
This country is going to come to a sticky end just because the people who CAN change things have no reason to want to.

Sorry, not really very related to your post Trinny babes, just p'd me off.
On the subject though, ok, he should have claimed asylum in the first country that was safe for him but he's here now, as is the girl. Leave them be. If you want to look for somebody to deport, find the troublemakers and benefit cheats and all the others who abuse the system and give genuine cases like this a bad name.
