Well the deed is done. Kizzy and Bailey are at the Cattery. I was all choked up leaving them. The place seemed nice. Overlooking the suspension bridge. Each cat family has its own room with basket(s) and play run area with a ramp and toys. Each cat kennel is named after a place in the world. My cats are staying in Rome. The woman who took us in was flustered and abrupt. Everyone showed up at once. I pointed out that she'd told us to come at 3pm.
Bailey was lively and inquisitive. Immediately out looking round and smelling everything but poor sweet little Kizzy wouldn't come out of the cat box (that I'd had to wrestle her into 15 mins previously) so I left her in the cat box with the door open to come out in her own time. It's quiet here.
Danz pointed out that Taylor is now 'The only cat in the village'. Next door is feeding his royal miserableness. (The nice next door BTW) Hope he behaves.
Dinner time we had McDonald's. I cannot cook today. Too stressed. I went and got it whilst the girls tidied up (yeah right) when I paid for the food the guy flung the change at me and told me to move onto window 3.
I realised he'd given me too much change. Too much by a tenner.
I sat and looked at it. I could just drive away but , you know I couldn't. I asked the girl if they got into trouble if their tills didn't balance. Too right she said. So I gave the tenner back.
I got home. The food was mediocre by far. The chips were cardboardy and cold for a start. I dunno. If it was the huge conglomerate McDonald's I was taking a tenner from...Well frankly who cares. But if it was Abby on the till who would be really reprimanded and made to feel a thief if her till didn't balance (which with her maths skills would be highly likely) I'd want people to be honest.
So I'm honest. What would you have done?

I would always give it back. It's so easy to take it, but if you're in charge of a till whether it's in a bank, a supermarket, or a fast food place you do get in a bit of trouble. I once got given $100 extra in a bank withdrawal. It was hard, but I did give it back - at least I could feel good about it later! And if it was my kid on the till, I'd like to think people would give the money back.
It's good when people are honest about stuff like this -like you say, it's not like it's McDs that'll suffer. It cuts both ways, too. I can still remember, years ago, being out with my grandad. He went to the bar and had one of those 'but I gave you a twenty pound note!' 'no mate, it was a tenner' moments. The pub said they'd take his number and if they found they were £10 up at the end of the day they'd get in touch. Yeah right thought us. We were only day visitors, not regulars. They're never going to get in touch. Next day the phone rings, it's the pub asking where they should send the £10 to.
