our bridge

Brunel 200: Home

The most famous site in Bristol as to be the Clifton Suspension bridge. Every Bristolian has walked over it in their time. Apparently Brunel was 200 yrs today and we all set out to celebrate his birthday.
There were literally thousands of people there. The bridge has new lights and the grand relighting ceremony was tonight. It was bloody freezing. They were late switching stuff on.... But everyone was in a good but cold mood. Lots of people had drink... Though the one tiny hotdog place was overrun with cold patrons... FFS!
Finally the lights came on and yes, they were very pretty. I felt a bit emotional looking at it. It always reminds me of home.
The fireworks were brilliant starting off with a Duran Duran (remember the reflex) style waterfall of lights over the side of the bridge that was brilliant.
Then really classy fireworks that accentuated the bridge.... All purples and greens and cream colours.
When they finished I could hardly feel my feet.... Seriously walking back to the car was hard work.
We got in the car and were then trapped in a car park for 1/2 hour with sheer volume of traffic.
