did I mention?

That Spring had a lovely donkey mask for his birthday from my darling girls?
Suits him.

Spring's gonna be upset!

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us20m redevelopment gets go-ahead
It's happening!
They're finally going to tear down those awful shops round these parts and build us a nice new state of the art supermarket.
Kind of sad in ways. I used to play round those shops. I used to spend my school dinner money on chips there, nicked sweets, brought my first record, my brother Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usbroke his arms over his handle bars there.
It's like a bit of a ghost town now. Kids hang about because they got nothing else to do except kick balls at the metal shop fronts. I remember people who lived in those flats over the shops.
All long gone.
1960's architecture.
What were they thinking?

the first one

My very first ripe tomato. I'm so pleased. I shared it with Danz and it was sweet and tomatoish.... hmmm next step potatoes, cabbage, carrots etc etc just call me Felicity Kendall....

bad money

Faced with a Bi Polar lifestyle that was far beyond my means a few years back, things have reached the point when it was do something about it or collapse again.
Next Tuesday I'm petitioning for bankruptcy. Funny, it's been hard for me to admit it here. Most of my friends know about it and support me fully but it's actually saying it.
I am crap, I spent money that I couldn't pay back. I failed.
It costs money to become bankrupt. Almost 500 quid. I've had to wait till now to scrabble it all together. I'm terrified. I'm having nightmares, I've been moody and tearful (ask Spring!)
Today I cried because he offered to come with me. I was touched. I didn't expect him to. TBH I feel it's my problem and I should face it alone. Someone in work offered to come with me but I felt embarrassed and stupid.
Work phoned me earlier. The bank have been ringing them... Told them I was in serious trouble and needed to contact them ASAP.
I was mad. I didn't expect that from a bank. Crikey they've had enough money from me over these years.
Today's postman brought a ton of nasty letters threatening me with visits and court things.
It will be a joy to end all that. But I am scared. I feel a failure. I know I was very bad. But if you come here you will have no idea what exactly I over-spent on? There's nothing here. Probably the way with bi-polar. A nick in a vein leaking gradually.
I'm better. I'm the most stable I've been for years. I'm happy and strong and level.
This will hopefully seal it.
I hope so.

birthday boy

opening the champers
Today was Springs birthday... A big one as it turns out. He came over at about 2 pm and we went to the farm to choose his kitten... That was REALLY his gift. I bought him some stuff. A robe to wear at Dilly Dally, a tee-shirt, some CD's, a Barometer (Abby thought this hilarious) plus other bits.
Daleks do not do birthdays
She choose his Dalek cake. We had a bottle of champagne between us before 5 pm. Abby was most disgusted. She said it was far too early to start drinking. I wonder who made her Mother Superior.
I made fajitas and fired up the chocolate fountain for dessert. Now he's asleep on my bed from over indulgence I fear.... ahhh who cares that's what should happen on your birthday.
Happy Birthday sweetheart. Loves you.

new kittens

feisty tigger
11 days old. Eyes just open and just beginning to try to walk with wobbly feet. My sister's cats Kittens are just gorgeous. These are the most feisty. The ginger one is the biggest and robust and the tabby one is like a mini tiger all hissing and spitting and temper.... At 11 days?

Spot Heidi cuddled up to Dobby the little runt. Ginge and Tiger are fighting and the little black and white one is asleep on his own.

Spring choose the tortoiseshell one. We're going to call it Heidi. Yeah I know it's girlie but I like girlie names. He choose it anyways. She had a pretty dear little face framed in fur and was cuddly.

This is the runt. Dobby. He was born in the corner of the room and left behind. When my sister found him he was half dead and cold. He's as ugly as can be and sees one eye hasn't opened properly and she's sure no one will want him. Would YOU want him

sensible

"Dancing is not the right thing for you. Up to now I have tried to keep you away from corruption and in the city there is always the danger that you may be overcome in the struggle against evil."

tracks and tracks:

"They come downstairs and tell you to turn your music down, moan 'cos you don't wear clothes when it's 90+ outside and have CD collections that would shame your grandparents. "

Sounds like Abby and Danz.... Wait a minute that IS Abby and Danz.
This is me and Springs new site. Combining the raw challenge of music and trains. Hmmm.
Novel.
"Your kids are like Nazi Guards" Spring remarked to me the other day after Abby had flown upstairs to tell me to turn DOWN David Bowie. Didn't I realise there were people living in our street. This was at 1pm not 3 in the morning. Also put some clothes on. She had no desire to see Springs legs, or nose or elbows for that matter.
Sat on the sofa with lap top on her.... ummm lap she listens to every word and she displays her displeasure with a snort or guttural throaty noise.
Dan I even had Daniel telling me he had no desire to see Springs naked bum at school the other day.
Teenagers? Yep he's right. What is happening?
Go get a tattoo and ditch the lace ups.
I is as cool as cool can be.

Happy Birthday Spring!!
May it be your best one yet.

cats rule

why cats are the bestest thing ever!:

"On June 4 a black bear wandered into a West Milford, New Jersey, back yard, was confronted by a 15-pound (7-kilogram) tabby cat, and fled up a neighbor's tree. Hissing at the base of the tree, Jack the clawless cat kept the bear at bay for about 15 minutes, then ran him up another tree after an attempted escape.
Finally, Jack's owner, Donna Dickey, called the cat inside, and the timorous trespasser disappeared back into the woods.
'He doesn't want anybody in his yard,' Dickey said of Jack "

Wow... and I mean wow.

strange asda

Adsa the year 2006. Captains log dated August 5th.
Whilst perusing the creme frais I noticed my darling children had done a detour and headed off to the Muller Yogurt section and were in the process of filling my shopping trolley with several hundred yogurts.
I shouted "Get over here now" in their direction.
Suddenly a man approached me with a trolley and a kid in it.
"I thought you meant me" he laughed. His missus followed behind and raised her eyebrows at his antics.
As he walked off I said to the girls "You get a very strange breed of customer shopping in Asda"
With that the entire row of people looking at the dips turned around and stared at me.
"Not you lot" I stuttered. By this time the girls were so embarrassed they'd walked off and I was left to choose my salsa dip all alone.
On the way out I stopped at customer services to try get Abby a job, but it seems they've all gone.
Grrr.
Spring's 50th birthday tomorrow! Abby choose his cake and spent the entire time trying to persuade me to get pink wrapping paper and a fairy princess tablecloth.
Perhaps she knows something I don't.

technology vs god

Virus program incurs church wrath:

"The row between Symantec and Church House Publishing, the creator of Visual Liturgy, blew up on 8 July following an update to the Norton anti-virus software.
More than 4,500 Church of England parishes rely on Visual Liturgy to help them plan and prepare church services. "

Oh dear. Naughty Norton seems to have incurred the wrath of God by identifying one of the Churches programmes as spyware and deleting it.
Hilarious stuff.

doggie eats bear... elvis's bear.

I didn't mean it!!
Elvis bear worth 40,000 pounds mauled by guard dog :

"His owner doesn't know what came over him. And, by his downcast expression, neither does Barney the guard dog.
The doberman pinscher went berserk while on duty at a teddy bear museum, tearing the toys limb from limb and causing 20,000 pounds damage.
Among his victims was Mabel, a 40,000 pound Steiff bear that once belonged to Elvis Presley - and the jewel in the 500,000 pound collection.
Barney was meant to be protecting the bears, which are on show at the Wookey Hole Caves tourist attraction near Wells, Somerset. "

Dear dear dear. You don't get that problem with cats!
My sister lives right by Wookey Hole. Cool place. Full of witches and teddy eating dogs. Hmmm.
Look at his little face. He didn't mean it... awwww.

super? man

We all went to see Superman last night at Cineword Bristol. The girls Spring and my rather reluctant self as I wasn't sure I'd like it, having never even liked the originals.
We arrived a little late for the 7pm showing but knowing the 20 to 25 minutes of sodding adverts before these things I wasn't too worried.
I asked for three adults and one child to see Superman Returns. I got two adults and 2 children. Oh well, I didn't argue. A quick visit for 4 enormous 'regular' cokes and a huge nose bag of popcorn for Spring and we went to go in. It was about 7.15. I gave in the tickets and he stopped me. The cinema wasn't cleaned yet?
Odd? For a 7 pm showing. He shrugged his shoulders. So we waited and finally they let us in. Screen 12. Well screen 12 had a huge Pirates of the Caribbean sign outside. I went in and asked the dozen teenagers inside what they were viewing. Pirates apparently. Hmm, I asked them if they were joking and they laughed. Someone came outside looked at the sign and said "Oh yeah Pirates of the Superman...."
I went back to the man. I'd been given the wrong tickets. The till guy had booked us into the 7.30 pirates showing. Our film was in screen 11.
With a lot of sighing and huffing we entered screen 11 as the film was about to start. Lucky.
Ummm not.
The film played the starting music and a sign came up. This film has been passed U suitable for all.
"Over the Hedge" began. The little squirrel thing trying to get crisps out of the machine.
Everyone laughed and someone went to get a cineword worker.
After 5 minutes the film stopped then there was another 10 minute delay while someone found the correct film.
Hopeless.
Then the film began. After 15 minutes I wondered if frankly I was going to be able to sit through the dull, humourless and lacklustre movie.
There were moments that held me, like the space shuttle bit. But "Yawn" I'd seen it all before. And the soppy Lois lane crap? And Superman having a frankly weedy little son? Played by a cute looking (Romeo Beckham lookalike) but incredibly wooden child actor was dross.
Superman was ugly and that ridiculous curl on his forehead didn't help.
Spring ate the most enormous bag of popcorn and revels. He was bored too. No trains anywhere in the film :P
It's Springs birthday on Sunday.A whole 50 years of being on this planet. Well his body has been anyways!!

working it out

A couple of workable days at the mill this week. Tuesday I was playing immunology again. However this time my consultant wasn't available. Just his rather over testing registrar Pibo. Pibo orders more investigations than George bush. On your average 2 year olds arms you have room to do 6 tests. Leaving an inch space in between each test for safety. He ordered 16 allergy tests on one child including milk. I wouldn't mind but the kid drank a pint of milk a day. How the feck could he be allergic? Do the maths. I had to leave out some tests. Pibo seems to think children have three arms.
Kids always amaze me. Some are quivering wrecks of emotional screaming and anger. No, they yell and their parents cluck and fuss.
Some kids are stoical letting out the odd sob of anguish. It's these that get my heart strings tugging as I quietly silence my own dry sob as I empathise with them.
Some couldn't care less and have high pain thresholds and a matter of fact approach. These have the most fun as we tend to make a huge fuss of these plucky kids.
Actually we make a fuss of them all. All kids are special. Even the one who bit my boob a few years back when I was doing his dressing.
I'm a firm believer in getting it over as fast as possible. Then an essential debrief as you talk them through what happened and ask them to really think about "Was it as bad as you thought?" 95% will say no. The thought was worse but that odd 5% will SWEAR it was the worst thing in the whole world.
Bless, I can think of some adults who'd agree with them.

I'm a performer?

Results
Your answers suggest you are a Performer
The four aspects that make up this personality type are:

Summary of Performers
Love fun, people and the world around them
Prefer hands-on learning to reading a book
Think of themselves as enthusiastic, sociable or sensitive
May forget about commitments because they're having so much fun
More about Performers
For the Performers, people and the exciting world around them come before rules and routines. This group believes you can get work done efficiently and have fun at the same time. Others are naturally drawn to the Performers' outgoing nature and enjoyment of life.

Performers are most likely to say they dislike reading travel books, according to a UK survey.
Performers are good at reading people and figuring out what their needs are. They don't believe in making plans and are confident that they can handle whatever comes their way. These skills allow Performers to quickly motivate others.

In situations where they can't use their talents or are unappreciated, Performers may become distracted, fail to accept or meet deadlines, or take criticism too personally. Under extreme stress, Performers can be overwhelmed by thinking of all the things that could possibly go wrong.

Performers may live for the moment and forget the consequences of their actions.

Performer Careers
Performers are drawn to careers that require people skills and attention to detail.

what do I really really want?

Now wait a minute, whose the girl who said she'd never fall in love again, never want to be with someone full time, never want to live with someone?
Don't get me wrong. I have no intentions of EVER getting married again. Marriage is stupid. Something people do to affirm their commitment to each other and have a big celebration. If you love each other then there is no need for affirmation and wedding parties are expensive extravagance. But after a weekend spent with Spring I really miss him. I'm here alone (ok I got my girls) but I want to talk to him and have his company.
The girls went out with their dad. Must be the first time in ages. He came at 7 and brought them back at 7.30. I was mad. I thought they were going to see Superman. It apparently was a complete disaster and the girls wanted to come home.
Abby walked in and asked if Spring could come back tonight.
Sadly not.

expedition exmoor 2006

A whole weekend away. No kids, no stress, just me Spring and exmoor. Should be fun.... Yes?

We arrived to be met by these vicious naughty geese. Gracie and George hated me at first sight and loved nothing more than terrorising me across the cobbled courtyard.
This amused Spring greatly and he'd spend the time trying to catch my terror on camera. Bastard.

This was our cottage, tucked in the hills. Very picturesque. Shortly after arriving we went on a 25 mile (or more) walk through wild country, grass and stingy things. We ended up in a field of vicious man eating sheep with evil stares and noises to give you nightmares for the rest of your life. Let's just say I'm not a country girl.

We finally found our way back to civilization and the house. Little did we know though that just round the corner the bloody geese and the cockerel lay in wait for me. See Springs car in the background? He thinks he's Lord of the Manor. Hmm.

Our room was the middle one at the top. The place was called Cutthorne and I can recommend it if you like comfort, quiet and country side... Oh and bloody geese. The place is set deep in Exmoor and has it's own water supply. A well with lovely spring water. All the food is grown in their gardens. Spring said the only thing wrong with it was it wasn't a nudist colony (hmm)
There were three other couples there who didn't speak all weekend. They were awfully odd. They didn't even speak to each other. This morning straight after breakfast they all grabbed their cases and left. Maybe it was us? Maybe they were late for church?

The first night my darling Spring got ready for bed and I suddenly noticed this orange hue emitting from his body. At first I thought he was tanned... Then... Who tans a bright orange?
Yep, he'd got a 99p bottle of fake tan from Lidl and mired his little body with it. Thank goodness we weren't at Dilly Dallies. I wouldn't have been able to be seen naked with him.
He looked like a bottle of Orangina.
The shock was overwhelming. I was dating an overripe piece of citrus fruit. Woe is me.

Luckily the view from the room was enough to calm the mind and body. Note how lots of it was starting to go quite brown in the sun. Saturday it did rain most of the day, but light pathetic rain that did little to water the needy plants and trees.
The owner of the place said her vegetable field was in desperate need of water but they couldn't waste the well water. Don't we take stuff for granted in the city?
They could stop watering those evil geese that might help!

Saturday we went to the Lynton cliff rail and wandered around Lynton and Lynmouth. It rained but wasn't cold. The place was full of foreign tourists. We visited three railways in 2 days in Exmoor.... ffs! We actually had a ride on one of them... a narrow gauge thing. We also visited a steam museum. Never date a railway enthusiast.

In lynmouth we had a meal in a really lovely cafe by the bridge. In hopped this little robin red breast. The owner said he was in there all the time.

We nearly had a meal in this rather fancy pub but the vegetarian options were dire. Amazing though all those colours and flowers.

Lynmouth Bay in the sunshine. The beach is odd but the view spectacular. See the road in the distance winding up the hill? We drove up there and across the countryside to Minehead. At the very top the view is brilliant. There was a car stopped right at the bendy bit with all 5 members of the family stood out taking in the view, we nearly hit them, all of them could have been killed. It was so stupid. People do not think at all.

In exchange for me being so kind, and allowing him to visit three sodding railways, Spring brought me a fluffy sheep called Dunster on the way home. Here we are after stopping at The Lamb for a drink and Spring and Dunster pose. The orange has faded slightly but still evident.
He's threatened to reapply.

bristol news central

Who gets married in a wedding dress so damn big wide and bulky that you have to be pushed down the aisle to get to the altar?

"It took twenty people an hour and a half to heave 16-year-old Carly through and up the aisle followed by her 60ft long train. Carly, who spent nine and a half hours getting into it, was exhausted when she got to the altar in Gloucester"

I was reading this story in Reveal in the hairdressers this morning. I pointed it out to my hair dresser who was just describing how 6 inches wasn't enough and she felt she needed a foot (subway just opened next door)
Danielle pipes up. "How stupid. Bet she never wears it again either"
Now how many women does SHE know who wore their wedding dress again?

The magazine was full of Bristol stuff. A child from my work whose mother sold her story to the press, a man whose nipple and thumb were bitten off by a passing cannibal and eaten. A set of sisters who share the same boyfriend. He tries to divide his time equally but is feeling quite tired lately.

Bristol eh? Den of inequity indeed.

elvis horror

Reading the TV times tonight this 'thing' sprung out at me with it's tacky hideousness.

"No one loved Christmas more than Elvis Presley. Now, his generous holiday spirit and warm, sparkling charm is lovingly evoked in this exclusive, first-ever illuminated collectable porcelain tabletop Elvis Presley Christmas tree! Aglow with over 100 sparkling faceted gems and gleaming 22K gold, this distinctive, handcrafted Elvis Christmas collectable rotates as it plays the nostalgic melody of "Blue Christmas"

Absolutely horrendous. It even rotates. The horror. Imagining opening THAT on Christmas morning.

made me feel better

"It seems as if the Cheeky Girls filed for
bankruptcy yesterday"

Popbitch newsletter today. Made me feel better.

head doctors

Go away heat!!!

Anyways. Yippeeee today I actually have my new tooth in. It fits and it's fixed and I can smile again... Only took 4 months but what the heck!
I can't seem to chew properly but I guess I'll get used to it. Might make the weekend cheaper if I can't eat!
I had a rather odd appointment with Abby's Psychologist. He's called Adrien and an odd short little fellow with a partial beard and complete absence of any humour.
He's one of these psychological people who ask an obscure question then don't say a word for 15 minutes whilst you squirm and try to fill in the long empty minutes with anything and make yourself seem a total crazy fool in the process.
"How did you feel when you found out we wanted to increase Abby's sessions" he droned in one tone.
"Great because it gets her out of the house and I can vacuum under the sofa" I laughed.
Ummm no, wrong answer Ms Trinity.
I squirmed and ummed and ahhed my way out of it for 10 minutes and then a 5 minute silence with the noise of the table top fan whirling.... Then "Can you explain in more detail how you exactly felt?"
Grrrr
We had to leave 20 minutes early to get to the dentist At 2.30 he said
"You have to leave now"
"I'm so sorry" I spluttered "You know how precious NHS dental appointments are"
"If you have to leave you have to go" He sounded disapproving. Probably thinks I'm a bad mother... Who puts her teeth before her daughter? (well I need to bite her with something!)
Bloody hell I left there a nervous wreck.
