Girl Guides

Danz started guides back in September time. I brought her the official uniform and off she went. Now I may have said before but her guider 'Cap' had mentioned to me something about how she didn't like the new uniform. But as those who know me well realise. I'm not much good at listening sometimes.
Danz began to tell me that she was the only one in her type of uniform. And yes not unlike the Midwich Cuckoos' All the girls are dressed the same. In light blue sweat shirts and black trousers and sashes. Danz has the new 'funky' uniform.
As a guide leader I know the story behind the uniforms. In the 60's, 70's and 80's the guides uniforms were basically the same. Shirts and ties and hats. But during Image Hosted by ImageShack.usthe latter part of the 90's a drop of girls attending guides happened. They looked into it and many changes were made. The organisation was updated bang 21st century. The pre existing view that guiding led girls into being subservient women ended. They stopped being taught things like ironing, housekeeping, serving.
Plus the uniform changed. Girls didn't like being seen out by their peers in some frumpy clothes that weren't cool and identified them as being different.
Girls now can choose what they wear. The clothes are comfortable and modern.
'Cap' doesn't seem to do modern. The old uniform is now defunked. You can't buy it. So Cap has bought a job lot of light blue sweatshirts at Primark and sewn the girl new uniformguide badge on. Sashes are now old news. So Cap has had some made and told Danz she HAS to wear one.
So what to do? Rock the boat with Cap and Danz might drown. She is the ONLY one in the 'right' uniform. We'll see. But my girls will NEVER be subservient. (well except Danz when she does the housework for her mummy lol)
