Bath Registers office is absolutely gorgeous. The old historical building is beautiful as so many of Bath buildings are. But the interior is plush and grande. Deep sofas, thick carpets, lovely old fireplaces and huge bay windows. Full of character. Bath is on of my very favourite places anyways. To be only London has more heritage (yes I know I'm wrong) but take a tour of Bath and every street has something famous and steeped in history to offer. My Girls are both wearing a Poncho type wrap. Makes me smile. I used to wear ponchos way back. Now they return with avengence! Pretty though especially Danielle's with all the colours. Posted by Hello

My sister's Wedding!

The wedding day. My sister married Steve. I can't post pix of her she'd kill me! But it was a good day. I read the reading from 1 Corinthians (love) and the vicar said I was a pro! The wedding was at The Registry Office then Blessing at Priddy Church then off to a very lovely local pub for the reception. Nice wine, nice food and lots of fun. I decorated the car with balloons and condoms! Posted by Hello

Light Up Light up

The enigmatic Snow Patrol. I just watched them play live to a crowd on The Mercury Awards. I like Franz but I'd have voted for Final Straw The album is so lush but I guess I'm biased because it also means a lot to me. The hairs went up on the back of my neck when I heard the crowd sing back 'Run' to the band. Posted by Hello

A feel good post

My sister had a kitten from the same litter as Kizzy. A bright ginger boy named Tango. Tango's life is quite different to Kizzys. Living on a farm. Playing chase with the cows. Lining up his mice and bird catches in the barn. Irritating the horses, And roaming freely.
Well he hasn't been home for two nights and my sister was worried. They recently lost a horse (just died in the end) and with her wedding tomorrow, she was a bit upset.
Her man went out looking for him this morning, searched everywhere, right down on the road and through the walkways. On his way back he heard a pitiful crying. Yes Tango was up a tree. The biggest tree around. He'd been there all the time, in the wind and rain. Clinging on and crying.
So he called his dad who brought up the tractor, and he got into the bucket digger thing and they maneuvered it up high into the tree and rescued him.
When home he ate tons but is finding it hard to wee, think he caught a little chill.
They also bought a new pony today called Harry.
A nice, happy ending story for you to warm you this wet windy September Sunday's night.

Strangers in our midst

SocietyGuardian.co.uk Society Strangers in our midst: "Why can't that trend be replicated here? Partly because parents are confused over talking to children about sex. Even liberals shrink from seeing the last bond to childhood severed. But the far greater problem is public hysteria. Forget teen magazines, repellent as some may be, and too much eyeshadow. What damages teenagers is an adult world which caricatures them as vain, promiscuous, stupid and venal. Endless disapproval from those who think social behaviour almost as noxious as the antisocial kind inevitably makes young people too frightened to seek advice. "

Who are we to proclaim them all 'children' because they are under 16. Each individual teenager should be treated just as that...An individual with thoughts and needs and their own minds.

The issue with the 12 year old and under age sex? Well yes it was very wrong but I have more of an issue with the Judge, his comments and attitude to previous cases and allowing such individuals like Michael Barrett to go free with little consequence. This wasn't a case of two people falling in love and wanting to be with one another. He knew what he wanted and went for it. And maybe if someone had done something about the pervert Ian Huntley ages ago those two little girls might still be with us.

I have a drawer upstairs full of condoms. My kids know where it is and know they can take them without question. I am realist. I hold no assumptions or fairy tale beliefs that sex is for over 16's when in a stable relationship. But I educate and I talk about it. They know they can ask me anything and if they feel they can't...I have books. I hope they feel I am totally approachable BUT I also know in my heart of hearts they won't tell me. Because I'm their mum, and sadly as with my generation and generations to come. You don't tell your mum everything.

This would work in my life. My parents still think I need looking after at my fine (young) age. If I get a biscuit she still looks at me and says 'Do you really need that?'I always get helpful hints as to how to reverse the car out of the drive, how to maintain the speed limit. How to lock the doors at night and how all internet men are lecherous, sex driven, deviants. Tsk!

Last Night of The Proms

BBC - Proms - Homepage

Maybe I'm not all alone. I have BBC on and the Proms. Wonderful stirring stuff. If the kids were here they wouldn't let me watch it. And Abby just text me she loves me. Bless
wow Casualty was ace tonight. I'd given up expecting anything from that soapy medical crap but it was fast, exciting and good acting. Part two tomorrow night.
I really like the actor that plays DI Manning. Gary Mavers. Peak Practise wasn't the same without him.

tsk am I bad mum?

I don't want to be on my own tonight.
My sister came round earlier. Danz had been nagging about 'were we doing anything today'. My sister offered to take her. But what I didn't realise when she left was that Abby wanted to go to her mates tonight. Abby got up at 2pm and rang her...She wanted to go then. But she was told to go round at 7pm. Hmm I thought. Her friend isn't as keen as Abby. Then after shopping she rang her again. This time she was told not to go till 9pm. Don't go I begged her, stay with me. It's quite obvious she doesn't really want you there. But she got all pissy and horrible. Fine I said and stormed out to the car and sat there until she came out and we drove in silence.
Oh God I'm so selfish.
But I don't want to be alone tonight.

Protester closes the London Eye

BBC NEWS England London Protester closes the London Eye

Would you let your 4 year old daughter see a man (ok her dad) who dresses as Spiderman and climbs the London Eye and closes it?
Does he really think this will help his cause? think about it. If he was allowed access the courts would sort it.
This isn't the actions of a rational man. Ok some of you will argue he has been driven to this....but what if he did get access? Wouldn't she be worried that this apparently 'rational' man wouldn't do something silly like try to take the child.
He hasn't shown himself to be exactly stable now has he?

Shop shop shop

Took Abby into town, always a bad move. She wanted Usher 'Confessions of a Chicken' so we duly headed into Virgin megastores and bought it for an extortionate 12.99 a whole 4 pounds more than Amazon and Play. Ofcourse I had to buy something then. I chose oasis 'what's the story Morning Glory in the 'sale' for 10.99 and then something caught my eye. Oh help, I couldn't resist it though I did put it back once Glen Campbell I wondered how this would affect my 'cool' collection. But hey you lot. All music influences go into making something great. Glen, has a terrific voice and some damn fine classics. And its playing now and I'm into country mode. I want to put on a checked shirt, jeans and sit astride a fine steed. Damn I forgot how much I love this guy (Don't tell Clarrie. I'm her rock Icon).
I also spent a small fortune in Lush Soap, bath bars, bath bombs and chocolate face packs.
Then a final call into our next fav shop The Bear Factory where we bought a bear and a wedding dress for my Sister , whose getting married Monday (fool).
Abby wanted the film Armageddon She's doing it at school for an English project. I did laugh though. At the till in Woolies they asked her how old she was. 14 duh! The film has a 15 cert, So they wouldn't let her buy it. She went to another till that didn't ask her age. But hey....she's doing it at school!

Everything is wrong with Jason

Everything is wrong with me

Jason. You rock. Why are you single? a travesty. Read the emails, part two, where Jason interprets lines from Cosmo. With precious gems of wisdom like

"Spell out naughty messages across my entire body...My legs, arms, chest. If I guess right, you act out the message."
- Doesn't that seem like a lot of work? When I'm having sex, it's usually when I'm so drunk I can barely work a toilet, let alone guess dirty messages written on my body. Also, whatever a woman would spell out I'd guess the same thing: "anal."

I'm guessing Cosmo is cosmopolitan. I have my fabby :-P Ann Summers book '101 ways to drive a man wild in bed' remember the infamous tip to send him a single lily or orchid to work. The sexy flower will look at him all day and prepare him for what awaits him at home?In reality the flower will cause massive 'take the piss out' of him by his co-workers and he'll possibly throw said flower across the office, knocking out fellow worker and getting sacked.
Don't believe all you read in books.....Oh and the taxi tip in Jason's post......Will land you in Accident and Emergency. Believe me I'm a nurse.

College?

It appears that all over the city the local secondary school's (comps) are turning into 'Colleges'. Abby's school is an Engineering College. Another one not too far away is a college of excellence for performing Arts. The Church school is now a Humanities College.
Abby came home with her new contact book. They are now College students. The school is wholly referred to as College but interestingly enough the kids are still treated like schoolkids!
Its all a big gimmick. Plus a reason to allow industry into the schools and get revenue from advertising. At her last school there was some company's name on all the letters home.
Plus its impossible to get your child into the school of your choice anyways. I'd be lucky to get Danz into Abby's 'College' next year (of course they have to take her with the siblings rule) my catchment school is the one with the lowest marks in the city and amongst the lowest in the whole country.
what's the point in a college for performing Arts? Unless you live there you can't access the places so even if your child has a natural dramatic ability.... Your barred.
Plus where's the college of excellence in Maths or English? Where's the 'good all round education and discipline ' one. Next thing we'll be calling them Young Universities.
You still get told off for having the wrong colour PE Kit in an engineering college.
(Kids of today don't know they're born though. I remember the days of Airtex Shirts and Navy Blue Knickers, still traumatised now by the thought of going outside in sub zero temperatures and doing cross country in my underwear)

His War

MY WAR
Maybe a good thing to read today. A soldiers account of life in Iraq. Apparently these blogs are popping up all over the place and the American defence are worried about security issues. But these guys need to express and vent. This one has an apptitude for writing. Gritty and very real. And very scary, will we ever have a world without war and terrorism?

911

My little piece of the World Trade Centres. Given to me by a good friend who was helping with the 911 clear up operation in NYC. I guess we will all remember where we were on that dreadful day. I was at work in cubicle 6 with my special baby Chloe. I watched the planes plow into those towers, then went home. On the way home the radio announced the Pentagon tragedy. I remember feeling unsafe and worried. Then the towers collapsing. The horror and disbelief. I don't know what I feel about having a piece of those towers on my mantelpiece but everytime I look at it, I remember. We should never forget. Posted by Hello

My friend Marie refuses to comply wth compulsory picture taking when we went out for a meal. Tsk. She's v pretty too! Posted by Hello

MR BUBBLES

I miss you KB. Where are you hiding? hope R/L is lots of fun and you're happy!
kisses

:)

I upset my best work mate today. A person whose been there for me through thick and thin. Someone who cried to see me so ill when my depression was so bad. I didn't mean it. I was desolate. I sent her flowers and a cuddly teddy... didn't know what else to do.
But I learnt something. I learnt that everyone makes mistakes. I'm not the only one. I also learnt how supportive bloggers are.
I'm trying hard to be a better person. To think more about others. To listen when I'm told something and to keep my mouth shut and think before I speak. Its gonna be hard though. I'm the most imperfect person in the whole world. Full of flaws and head strong. I wear my heart on my sleeve and my heads somewhere way up there with the fairies.
I love my girls with all my very essence and to you...my supporters. Well I love you all too. Even if sometimes I'm a stupid silly bitch.

me

I am stupid and pathetic and don't deserve friends. I don't deserve nice things or nice people. I need to be alone and stay alone. Then I can't hurt people and make people sad. I am bad.

How Many ways to tell a guy to get lost and leave you alone

How many times do I have to tell this guy NO I do not want your advances, your company or indeed your dirty sexual talk
Here's a small portion of todays email

"Hope you change your mind, think about an evening out - doesn't HAVE TO BE sex involved."
FFS There will never be sex involved EVER. Crawl under the nearest stone and die but do it without ever emailing me again.

This Morning

D: "Mum my friend has got epilepsy like I got"
Me: "Pardon?"
D: "You know what you think I got"
Me: "You mean Dyslexia, love. Slightly different thing"
Just Wonderful :-X

Crap day

Hot sticky and dull day at work. Crazy how I'm affected by who I work with. Not that there was anything wrong with them but they aren't my special friends. They'd been busy all day. 12 hour shifts are shit. I came on and they were flat and tired and stressy. I guess I made up my mind I want a new job and until I change it or get one I'll be like this.
I also had to compose an email to a guy who will not leave me alone and thinks I'm some sex object. I'm totally fed up of it and hope my email was strong enough to convey that I DO NOT want his pervy attention.
My uniform is also splattered with blood and baby sick so I better wash it before tomorrows shift.
Never mind. The weekend looms and my sisters wedding Monday. Mind the cynical bitch I am....Weddings bah humbug? I think how long will that last? What do people buy for wedding gifts these days? Personally I reckon a super large vibrator and a set of handcuffs.
Talking of which. Abby admits to taking her mates into my room to look in my special drawer. My special drawer is my private place and has a big stock of batteries. Not sure how to handle that one. But as they say education is the best policy.
Lets hope they aren't those 'well balanced' kids who tell their mums EVERYTHING. I'll never face parents evening. Mind you....Any nice single dads out there?
