I'm sad today. I finished work, today was hellish. Lots and lots of patients and work. Both me and my colleague were weary and had run out of patience. The clinic was awful. They sent a locum doctor to run it who spoke OK English but with such a heavy accent he was hard to understand. It all went ok though.
Then we were meant to reopen for other cases at 11.30 but typically they started crowding in at 10.45 which meant we had no time to catch up with anything.
I'm glad it's all finished now...I have 5 days off over Christmas. Everyone kept asking what I was doing. Last night the kids were complaining that Christmas isn't the same as years ago. No-one visits us, we don't invite people round. I thought I'll invite someone around for dinner or something...But I can't think of anyone. Problem is I'm such a fickle cow that by the time Monday or Tuesday came round I might not be in the mood to do it.
I had to go into town after work to pick up the holiday tickets. Town was crowded with families. Screaming kids all hyper and excited. I was going to have a little look around but changed my mind at the sight of everyone. I actually felt nervous and anxious.
In the travel agents I was dealt with my a young girl. She checked through the tickets and passes with me, gave me the complimentary kids bags and books. I flicked through it all but couldn't find anything to do with the car parking we'd paid for.
Oh she said helpfully... Umm just show the car park people the receipt we gave you when you first booked.
I wasn't very impressed....There weren't any directions or instructions or anything.
I'm not really happy, I told her, can't you ask one of the other members of staff? She told me she didn't usually work there and proceeded to look through my booking on the PC to see if she could find out anything. After about 15 minutes I got more vocal and raised my voice slightly, saying I wasn't impressed and happy.
Another girl looked up and ask if there was a problem. I told her and immediately she said....Haven't you given the car parking voucher?
Feck I told the silly bitch to ask someone but she ignored me. I hate thick people. At least my insisting saved me having to go there again to collect the damn voucher.
Anyways home safe now. Tired and a bit flat but home at least.

Three days to go
Someone left to have a baby in work today. We had a bit of a party and she got this
plant from Marks and Spencers that looked like a fertility symbol. Work wasn't too bad, the cold snap seems to have halted the bugs for a while.
It's a big clinic tomorrow morning. I hate that particular clinic and we have to work with the playleader who drives me mad. She told me today she got a new kitten. She already has a dog called Bailey so she calls the kitten baileys. Hmmm (stupid bitch)
I was allowed home early tonight...Quite a bit early so I thought I'd stop at Sainsburys and get a few bits. Half of Bristol had the same idea.
It was packed. What made me a bit sad though was everyone seemed to have their partner with them. Helping them to shop. Mind god knows why the feck I was sad because the bastard ex never ever helped me shop anyways.
I had to buy a new bottle of Advocaat because mysteriously someone drank the first one.
At the checkout the girl spotting the uniform asked if I had any advice about chicken pox. Her 18 month baby has it. I am a Chicken Pox expert and gave her a list of stuff to get to make baby feel better. I love to be needed.
The kids have been to the hippodrome to see Julian Clary in Panto. Hope he doesn't fall off his beanstick.
Oh and Happy 16th Birthday Jamie. Hope you had a brilliant day. Hey!!!! It's big boy pants now mate!

Father's for Justice at it Again
BBC NEWS England Bristol Six arrested after M-way protest
They're at it again. Those total prats who aren't allowed access to their kids because they ARE total prats. Six of them climbed a gantry on the motorway wearing Santa suits, waving and shouting. With absolutely no thought for the potential for danger they were posing.
Imagine driving down a motorway on a busy day at about 50 0r 60 mph and you spot some fracas happening above you. Aren't you bound to look? Then imagine if some decent father was killed just before Christmas because of these tossers causing a momentary loss of concentration.
I don't blame the police for shutting the Motorway for a while but I imagine the traffic was so chaotic they were forced to reopen.
When it got cold tonight, the idiots came down and were immediately arrested. Good. I hope they keep them locked up all over Christmas. Give their poor long suffering ex partners and their very embarrassed kids a rest from their idiocy

Joke?
Danz has opened a tube of chocolate buttons from Danika. The buttons have jokes on the packet.
'What is buttons favourite game?'
Answer
"Swallowing the leader"
Something very wrong about that.

Grey Gym
I think I may be on the slippery slope to a high this week. Yesterday's extreme performance at work and today, after dropping Miss 'I don't see why I need to go to school' at school, I hit the gym. 8.30 am. A world record.
I wanted to do some swimming then have a sauna, shower then I'd be set for the day. I thought to myself. It's bound to be quiet at 8.30 on a cold December morning near Christmas. How wrong I was. The changing room was empty but as I hit the pool area there were an awful lot of towels hung up.
The pool was packed to bursting. With grey haired woman mostly and a few old guys. Carefully set hair straining to keep dry as it's owner did some resemblance of breast stroke vs Doggie paddle.
Why do they get up so early? Don't they know you're meant to lie in when you're retired? No wonder the sodding traffics so bad in the mornings (Ageist me? of course not)
I did some lengths, swimming around them. They were doing a few strokes then stopping to have a lengthy conversation about whose house they were having Christmas dinner in, where to buy the best brussel sprouts, the difficulties in getting washing dry this time of year, the latest winter break in Tenerife and the quality of the full board food.
Then I hit the sauna hoping for a time of karma and morning meditation.
WRONG.
In the sauna was Fred Elliott from Corrie's doppleganger. Verbal diarrhoea in a booming voice that echoed and vibrated off the hot dripping walls sending shockwaves through my sensitive soul. Isn't there some Sauna etiquette that this place is a place for quiet. I couldn't even hear the soothing mellow water music, he was that loud.
'HOW WAS YER 'OLIDAY' He boomed to the leather skinned tanned lady who'd recently returned from the ever classy Tenerife.
I got up and left.
I then had to go to the post office. Never a joyous event as it smells of dead cats in there. The queue for benefit payments snaked outside. It seemed to take longer than usual with everyone ascertaining when they could get their next payment over the Festive period, and being extremely dim about it all.
Never mind I arrived home intact. I started some housework...Moved the chair and found a huge stash of baubles and things that glitter from the tree. Bailey! I picked it all up much to her disgust and put it back on the tree.
vacuumed, washed up and put washing on. The postman brought me two more cards. And they were such lovely ones too, from two very special people.
At 11.30 the phone rang....ABBY. 'Pick me up' She whined. Damn that school. *Sigh* so I duly obliged. Well I guess Christmas has really started. We've already had a row and guess what? I just spotted two baubles behind the chair. Bailey is a very determined kitten!.

Feed The Wurzels
After the last post saying I'm, fed up of Band Aid, I guess I'm contradicting myself by saying I love hearing the Bristol version...'Feed the Wurzels' on the radio in the mornings.
Apparently they only need another 1000 downloads to make the official Download chart. Wouldn't that be something?
The actual cd can't be on the official chart as it's not being sold through the proper channels but so many people have bought the CD that it would have charted higher than Brian McFadden at least. Plus all the profits still go to the Band Aid cause.

Robson
Last night's 'Christmas Lights' with Robson Green was fairly entertaining. An
interesting comedy drama (miles better than crap like Doc Martin) about a family living and working together and their jealousy's of one another.
About half way through it seemed to get too silly and I lost interest but later on it grabbed me and I have to admit I cried at the end.
I do miss Robson Green on my TV. He's one of my fav actors. Always quality, reliable to entertain and a good actor. Remember the glory years of 'Soldier Soldier'.
I decided I'm going to miss Suranne Jones on Corrie. She's such a good actress as well and very pretty and easy to watch. Coronation Street has pissed all over Eastenders this year with it's powerful storylines and comedy moments.
It's 5am. I woke up with a headache. It's the kids last day at school...Though Abby finishes at 12.00. So that's it. Christmas is nearly here. If I hear bloody Band Aid one more time I think I will die. It's grating on me so badly. Maybe it's because I did it all the first time around. When I hear those first opening bars, my toes curl up and I get all tense.
In Woolworths Saturday, during my brief stay in the shop they played it FOUR times and Joni Mitchell once.
Maybe I should wear my Ipod when I go shopping? Oh I ordered my Ipod those Ipod socks . Shall I send you a pair Jude?

I hate people who can't park
Work!!!
I arrived at work this morning to find 5 nurses had gone sick. The place is full of bugs. It's understandable that the people who care for the sicky ones get sick!
But it meant that the girl I was working with had to help on other wards and I was left alone.
I loved it....But boy I worked hard. I saw 14 patients on my own, then about 5pm we went quiet and I did tons of paperwork, restocking, ordered pharmacy. Ordered the weeks worth of notes, phoned results to people, Cleaned and tidied. I was a woman possessed. But I was pleased with myself because hopefully the rest of the week will run smoothly now. Plus it's Christmas week and no-one wants hassle.
Every child that has something done like bloods or an x-ray gets a special gift this week. That's the bit I love. Seeing their little faces all excited and happy. It's tough caring for kids sometimes, when you have to do nasty stuff to them. But do you know what? I'm so lucky. I have such a lovely job. Looking after kids. Making them better.
If any of you have to have bloods taken tomorrow or a jab. Remember the two little one year old babies who I took blood from today...They smiled all the way through it. A few bubbles and a song from a crazy woman who loves her job.

Let it Snow
Grumblemag
Aww many of my mates aren't well at the moment. Last week poor Clarrie was ill. My mum's got this awful cold going around. This week...and it's Christmas week too. The illustrious Mr Grumblemag is poorly. Bless. Here's a picture of him aged fourteen. Receiving his first musical instrument for Christmas.
He soon out grew The Harp and moved on to the recorder. Never ask him to sing. He gave it up for humanitarian reasons.
ps Abby...you are perfectly well AND going to school KK?.
Mark Chapman rumour
What is Radio One doing these days?. The station meant to be the cutting edge of presenting music allowing twats of DJ's like Scott Mills and Moyles take over. The Mark Chapman is sacked thing is apparently a hoax. Hmmm really? Is that right. I believe there is no smoke without fire. Has Scott Mills heard the story of Peter and the Wolf?
It is not funny to make up stories about people. The internet is rather like a huge Chinese whispers group. As the story circulates, the tale gets bigger and bigger. I heard that he'd brutally raped Jo Whiley in the woman's loo's at the Radio One Christmas party, whilst drunk and shouting that John Peel was a wanker.
You know what? I shall never be able to listen to 'Chappers' again. This will stick in my mind. And if it all was a stupid prank on Scott Mills part. I think that it's Libelous and he should be booted from Radio One faster than Michelle McManus hit obscurity
Come on you prats. Radio One is about Music. Not a bunch of overgrown school boys playing jokes. Wankers.

Christmas Carols
I went to cult tonight to their carol service. I could have gone to the one at my local church but... Well Colette said to come along and see people.
It was ok. They always do something rather different. We had to be the crowd in Bethlehem, we went from room to room, signing in at the Inn. Watching the shepherds and going to the stable where a disgruntled Hollie starring as the beautiful Virgin Mary was trying to fend off kisses from Joseph. I don't remember Joe kissing Mary in the bible.
Trouble is I guess when Christmas is involved I'm a traditional bitch. I like Carols, with candlelight and hush. I like to be moved by the words in the carols.
Abby too wanted to sing carols (yes she came with me!) probably to confess her sins. She finally rang me at 3am to say she was ok. It was snowing then she said.
On the way home from school I saw a bill board poster for Blade Trinity. I said I want to see that. 'Seen it' remarked Abby. 'When?' I said. 'umm oh during Maths last week' she muttered. 'A pirate copy? Who brought it in' I asked. Thinking one of the unruly kids in her class. 'Oh the teacher' She said.
Great.

Feb 1st a black day
Internet blackout day
Apparently this is the 7th annual internet blackout day (hasn't done much good so far then!). This is in protest for all those Americans missing in action or prisoners of war
What acrap good idea. This is BOUND to work. So we black out our website and what? The criminals who have these men imprisoned. Fuming and panicking at not being able to read their daily Living As Trinity, Fatfighters, Grumblemag or Gum wrappers world , will think Fuck this and release the men immediately?
If only life were that simple.
Also Today Sunday 19th December. It's 'National Bowling for our Troops day'. Those lovable Americans are encouraged to 'get on down' to their local bowling place and throw a bowl in support of those guys with balls. What a worthy and honorable event :-#
I feel sure you will all be participating.

On February 1, 2005, we are encouraging all webpage owners to black out their webpages for 24 hours. This POW/MIA Internet Blackout is being done in Honor of our POW/MIA's and in Commitment to our Continuing Work Toward a Full Accounting of our POW/MIA's !
We have two different options for doing this:
24 Hour blackout of your webpage
90 Seconds of Silence Blackout of your webpage
This is a 24 hour blackout, but we offer the 90 seconds of silence for those that cannot afford or are unable to blackout their webpage for the full 24 hours.

Spellings
There's a character in Lemony Snickett who is obsessed with correct grammar. She hates anything with grammar errors.
WELL! I simply cannot buy an eBay purchase when the vendor can't spell. This guy didn't have a hell's chance of a bid.
I was intrigued with the pattern above the breasts too.

Mad Sunday
I read last week that the highest day for car accidents is December 15th. More car accidents happened on that day last year than for the whole of January.
Well... We woke up today in Bristol to snow. Only a smattering really but there was snow.
There's madness on these roads this morning. People driving excruciatingly slow and not really watching what they're doing. Fussing with the heaters and wind screen wipers.
One woman pulled out in front of me with a wind screen full of snow. Drove a few yards, kept putting the brakes on sharply (supposedly to shift the snow) then had to stop because she couldn't see and caused traffic chaos around her. Stupid bitch.
We headed off to the gym. Yay, I'm back gymming it. I did 12 lengths...Ok not brill but better than nothing. Had a lovely sauna and jacuzzi and feel great. The gym was deadly quiet. On the way out I bought the girls new goggles for their stockings.
Then I drove to the shops to buy something for dinner... yuck I have to cook. Thought I'd excel myself and do a roast today. I got a chicken in a bag. I have to shove it in oven for 75 minutes. Cook in the bag Veg. Plus frozen mini roast potatoes. Lovely. Who says I can't cook!
Anyways I'm going to have a quiet afternoon then I got a carol service at Cult tonight....hehe they do the most wonderful mulled wine. Can't wait.

Webby Kitty
OK This is a webcam. Found it on ebay today. At first glance it looks like a bargain....price is about a pound. But it's shipped from Hong Kong and they want about 12 quid for postage. But it's kinda cute. Hmm makes me think though. Only a young girl would want a Hello Kitty webcam. I actually don't think they should be on webcam....especially alone.Ok if you have relatives in distant places though.
Today
I got up waay too early today. Why oh why is it I could lie in bed for ever if I have to work but on a day off, my eyes spring open and I have to get up.
I collected a parcel from the post office, went shopping amongst the madness of Beirut. Bedminster, full of old people and Families grabbing their bargains. Woolworths had one person on the till on the last Saturday before Christmas whilst 5 shop assistants were having a chat by the chocolate selection boxes laughing and joking. The man in the queue behind me started yelling how disgusting it was and one more girl opened a till.
I went into the toy shop and was laughed out, trying to find a Tamagotchi for a friend whose desperate. They're selling at way over 30 quid on eBay now.
This afternoon I dropped Abby off somewhere in Whitchurch. She was going into town with her mates and staying the night at Amy's.
Now after the last time she slept out and I didn't know where she was, plus the fact it's a vile night here. Pouring rain, cold and miserable. I've rung her numerous times to see if she's ok. Her phone's switched off. Now I'm really mad about this. I bought her the damn phone and I put the credit on...Why? So I can ring at any time and check she's ok. So the selfish little bitch switches it off ( I love her but she can make me mad, especially when I don't feel secure knowing where she is)
their father came round and shoved a card through the door. Didn't knock or say hi to the kids. Ok least he didn't bother me. But he's not seen them for ages. Surely anyone would have said hi. Danz was upset. But she was even more upset when she read the card. No 'Merry Christmas Darling'. Oh No. A long passage about how unloved he feels, how she hasn't bothered with him (she's 10 yrs old FFS) How he sits by the phone waiting for her to call him. It's always about him. Grow up jerk.

Oh No. A long passage about how unloved he feels, how she hasn't bothered with him (she's 10 yrs old FFS) How he sits by the phone waiting for her to call him. It's always about him. Grow up jerk.

Searching for Nurses Fob Watches I came across some American paediatric uniforms. We wear normal stuff in work. The same as the whole hospital. We tried wearing colourful tabards and polo shirts but no one wanted to go the full way and move into these 'child friendly' outfits. Hmmm maybe they were right. I can't see myself with bright pink pussies all over me really.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events . I took Danielle to see this tonight, a horrid rainy cold December night. What can I say about this perfect Gem of a movie. I have no critism at all. I was rather surprised to read a few reviews that weren't glowing, but I think there are a lot of people who really detest Jin Carrey and frankly I do understand. But in this movie he was great. Villinous and callous but, rather over the top and funny at times. The comedy was in his overacting, and I found myself the obly one laughing at parts (is this good me wonders?) I found some of the humour so subtle and understated that Danielle simply didn't get it. Lots of American terms like Realtor that she didn't get at all though. The true joy was the Children Violet, Klaus and Sunny. The inventor, the reader and the biter. Violet was extremely beautifully visual with a certain air of sadness to her, Klaus seemed slightly too modern for the story but was still a fine little actor and le piece de resistence was the baby played by adorable twin girls. She was so adorable, funny and cute. She stole every scene she was in. I loved the film. One review said it had no suspence...absolute rubbish. I was damn well scared at one point and wanted a pillow to hide behind. This will become a classic.
Online Crazy tests
I always feel drawn into doing these online personality tests. Maybe one of them will turn me up as plumb normal, but thats never happened so far. Sometimes they have me down as needing sectioning!
Anyways Thanks to Mr Grumblemag I have done another one and it's quite accurate, except I'm not anti-social..only when I'm in an anti-social mood....what's wrong with that?
